Microbiologist – Technical Services & Manufacturing Sciences

About the role

Lilly is expanding its monoclonal antibody pipeline with a new manufacturing facility in Limerick, Ireland. The Technical Services/Manufacturing Sciences Microbiologist will ensure robust contamination control across GMP production areas and support the startup and ongoing operations of the site.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and improve microbiological, viral and environmental monitoring programs.
• Provide technical support for facility start‑up in partnership with engineering, operations, QC and QA.
• Develop and execute contamination risk assessments (FMEA), response plans and product protection strategies.
• Support upstream and downstream processing activities, including EMPQ preparation.
• Leverage digital plant data analytics and Process Analytical Technology to enhance process efficiency.

Required profile

• Deep technical expertise in microbiology applied to biotech manufacturing.
• Strong data‑driven decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.
• Experience working collaboratively with cross‑functional teams (engineering, operations, QC, QA).
• Ability to contribute to continuous improvement and technology implementation.
