R&D Project Engineer

About the role

This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic engineering team in Kingscourt, focusing on research, development and innovation. The R&D Project Engineer will lead product development initiatives, work hands‑on with prototypes, and collaborate across manufacturing, quality and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage new product development and improvement projects from concept to launch.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and operations.
• Design, prototype, and test mechanical products, ensuring thorough documentation.
• Analyse test data to optimise performance and inform design decisions.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and maintain development records.
• Research industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Provide technical support to other departments as needed.
• Present project updates, timelines and progress reports.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards, EN regulations and company policies.

Required profile

• Level 8 degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in R&D or a similar engineering environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects to completion.
• Innovative mindset with a proactive approach.
• Willingness to travel as required and hold a full clean driving licence (IRL/UK/EU).

Required skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of FEA tools, preferably ANSYS.
• Hands‑on experience with mechanical testing and building test rigs.
