Research Nurse – Medical Oncology

About the role

We are seeking a Research Nurse to join our Medical Oncology team in Galway. The role supports the coordination, management and delivery of oncology clinical trials, ensuring compliance with protocols, Good Clinical Practice and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate clinical research activities for Medical Oncology studies.
• Screen and assess potential participants, manage informed consent and patient education.
• Coordinate treatment plans, follow‑up schedules and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Provide nursing expertise and clinical care to participants according to study protocols.
• Maintain accurate research documentation, case report forms and data records.
• Support recruitment targets, manage biological specimens and liaise with laboratory teams.
• Assist with manuscript preparation, grant applications and audit readiness.
• Participate in training, investigator meetings and professional development activities.

Required profile

• Current registration with the relevant nursing board.
• Experience in clinical research or oncology nursing preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Required skills

• Good Clinical Practice (GCP) knowledge.
