Senior Backend Engineer – Node.js, Nest.js & AWS (AI Scribe)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend / Systems Engineer to design, build and own scalable Node.js and Nest.js services for AI‑driven documentation tools. The role is based in Dublin City Centre and operates on a hybrid schedule (2‑3 days onsite per week). You will work with large language models, third‑party AI APIs and AWS infrastructure to deliver high‑performance web solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement end‑to‑end web‑based systems using Node.js, Nest.js and AWS services (S3, Lambda).
• Develop, integrate and maintain RESTful APIs consumed by front‑end applications.
• Ensure reliability, performance, observability and scalability of production systems.
• Collaborate with AI teams to integrate Claude models via Cursor and AI Scribe tools.
• Mentor junior engineers and influence architectural decisions.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience as a senior engineer in complex systems.
• Strong background in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Proven ability to lead technical discussions and guide team members.
• Experience with test automation (Jest or Playwright) and CI/CD pipelines.
