Senior Production Manager

About the role

Helsinn Birex Pharmaceuticals is seeking an experienced Senior Production Manager to lead and optimise manufacturing and packaging operations in a GMP‑regulated environment. Reporting to the Manufacturing, Science and Technology Director, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership to achieve production targets, regulatory compliance and business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily manufacturing and packaging activities to meet production, quality and timeline goals.
• Develop and execute the site’s operational and technical roadmap.
• Drive Operational Excellence, Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to improve yield, reduce waste and increase efficiency.
• Monitor performance through KPIs, report results, analyse trends and implement corrective actions.
• Manage production scheduling, capacity planning and resource allocation in collaboration with Supply Chain.
• Work closely with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain and MSAT to ensure cGMP compliance.
• Oversee deviation management, root‑cause investigations, risk assessments and CAPA implementation.
• Lead New Product Introduction, process validation and technology transfer programmes.
• Provide technical leadership for development, validation and commercialisation of new pharmaceutical products.
• Support process development, scale‑up, validation and continuous verification activities.
• Collaborate with Analytical Development and Quality Control on method development and transfer.
• Coach and develop a high‑performing team, ensuring training, succession planning and performance management.

Required profile

• Significant experience managing manufacturing and packaging operations within a GMP‑regulated environment.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive operational excellence.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in KPI monitoring and continuous improvement.
