Setting Out Engineer – Civil Engineering Projects

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure projects across Dublin and its surroundings. You will provide accurate setting‑out and engineering support for roadworks, drainage, utilities and public infrastructure schemes.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out precise setting‑out using GPS, total station and laser levels.
• Interpret drawings, specifications and site information to ensure correct implementation.
• Support site teams with engineering control and technical guidance.
• Conduct as‑built surveys and maintain accurate site records.
• Liaise with site managers, foremen, subcontractors and design teams.
• Monitor works for accuracy, quality and compliance with specifications.
• Assist in resolving technical issues on site.
• Support QA/QC processes and contribute to project reporting.
• Ensure all activities comply with health and safety requirements.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2–4 years’ experience as a Setting Out Engineer or Site Engineer.
• Strong experience with GPS and total station equipment.
• Previous work on civil infrastructure projects such as roads, drainage or utilities.
• Irish or UK construction experience.
• Full driving licence.
