About the role
The SHES Manager (Power) will lead Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) activities for Murphy’s Power Division, covering LV/MV/HV overhead and underground networks, substations, solar and wind projects across Ireland. Reporting to the Head of SHES for Energy and Industry, the role oversees a team of SHES Advisors and ensures compliance with legislation, standards and company policies.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and implement Murphy’s Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Systems in line with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.
- Develop and deliver HSE strategies for power‑related projects, ensuring compliance with Irish legislation and client codes of practice.
- Conduct regular site audits, inspections, risk assessments and performance reviews.
- Lead investigations of incidents, near‑misses and non‑conformances, driving root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Monitor environmental impact, support sustainability goals and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Provide expert HSE guidance to site teams, management and subcontractors.
- Deliver targeted training, inductions and toolbox talks for high‑risk activities.
- Maintain accurate HSE records, reports and KPIs, and promote continuous improvement.
- Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies and other stakeholders to fulfil legal and contractual obligations.
Required profile
- Proven experience leading HSE functions on power infrastructure projects, including overhead/underground networks and renewable installations.
- Strong knowledge of Irish HSE legislation, industry standards and client codes of practice.
- Ability to manage and develop a team of SHES Advisors.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commitment to fostering a proactive safety culture.
