Setting Out Engineer – Ireland & Portugal

About the role

We are seeking a Setting Out Engineer to join a leading construction firm operating across Ireland and Portugal. The role involves translating project drawings and specifications into accurate on‑site layouts, ensuring compliance with building regulations and project timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager and Senior Engineer with day‑to‑day technical and engineering requirements on site.
• Implement quality control measures in line with the BCAR plan.
• Ensure all necessary documents and information are available to meet the short‑term programme.
• Identify information gaps, develop solutions, and coordinate with design and site teams.
• Maintain strong relationships with construction management, subcontractors, and the supply chain.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of setting out experience on DC or industrial projects.
• Previous experience with a main or sub‑contractor.
• Full clean Irish driving licence.
• Strong numeracy, record‑keeping, and organisational abilities.
• Understanding of project planning and programming.
