Structural Engineer

About the role

Newmont is seeking a Structural Engineer to provide civil and structural engineering design and modifications for the process plant and associated mine site infrastructure at its Lihir operation in Papua New Guinea.

Key responsibilities

• Develop civil and structural engineering designs and calculations in accordance with relevant design codes and standards.
• Review and assess proposed structural modifications within the process plant and mine site infrastructure, offering engineering guidance.
• Conduct site inspections and prepare conceptual structural design options for presentation to clients and stakeholders.
• Produce detailed construction‑ready drawings and documentation.
• Liaise with internal departments, stakeholders and external consultants to define design parameters and project requirements.
• Identify potential risks related to structural designs and construction methods, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure safety and project viability.
• Provide technical support during construction activities.

Required profile

• Ability to work onsite at the Lihir mine operation.
