Technician III – R&D Lab Support

About the role

Medtronic is seeking a Technician III to provide hands‑on technical support to R&D engineers in a laboratory environment. The role focuses on prototype development, mechanical testing, and additive manufacturing to accelerate product innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Support R&D engineers in laboratory testing and prototype build activities.
• Set up, operate, and maintain test equipment for mechanical and material evaluations.
• Conduct tensile and other mechanical tests, and perform metrology and dimensional inspections.
• Prepare samples, fixtures, and test setups according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Execute additive manufacturing tasks, including 3D printing of prototypes.
• Perform potting and other preparation techniques required for component testing.
• Maintain a safe, organized lab space and manage inventory of consumables and tooling.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives within the R&D lab.

Required profile

• NFQ Level 6 qualification in Engineering, Science or a related technical discipline.
• Experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, R&D or prototype development setting.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, procedures and technical documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and good computer documentation skills.
