Mine Operations Trainer

About the role

Simberi Gold Company Limited is seeking a Mine Operations Trainer to join its mining team on a permanent, full‑time basis at the Simberi open‑cut mine in Papua New Guinea. Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, you will design and deliver heavy‑equipment operator training, assess competencies, and support safe, efficient mine operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver theoretical and practical training programmes for heavy‑equipment (HE) operators.
• Maintain training logbooks and upload records to the Training Management System.
• Conduct Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments and reassessments for each competency level.
• Assist with accident and incident investigations and produce written reports.
• Perform daily pre‑operational equipment safety checks and ensure proper equipment storage.
• Recommend improvements to safe operating procedures and promote safety activities.
• Schedule and lead pre‑start safety meetings and compile monthly training reports.

Required profile

• Experience training or supervising heavy‑equipment operators in a mining environment.
• Strong understanding of mine safety, incident investigation (ICAM) and competency frameworks.
• Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all organisational levels.
• Commitment to fostering a safe and productive workplace.

Required skills

• Operation of ADT 740 HT, ADT 745 HT, Bell B5OD truck, excavator, track dozer, grader, wheel loader, Volvo A60H HT.
• Proficiency with training documentation and competency assessment tools.
• Knowledge of safety inspection procedures and equipment housekeeping.
