Airfreight Exports Operations Specialist

About the role

The Airfreight Exports Operations Specialist is responsible for managing the end‑to‑end export process for air freight shipments. Working within DHL Global Forwarding Ireland, you will ensure that all customer requirements are met, documentation is accurate, and shipments are processed efficiently from pickup to delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain open, honest relationships with assigned customers and act as their primary point of contact.
• Create, invoice and close export files in line with DHL and overseas regulatory procedures.
• Generate transport orders in the DCT system and manage customer bookings.
• Prepare, control and distribute all required export/import documents to carriers, consignees and suppliers.
• Validate printed documents against shipper and warehouse records for accuracy (contract rating, weight, shipper, consignee, etc.).
• Handle exception reporting, raise operations irregularities and work with relevant departments to resolve issues.
• Raise customer complaints via the GCCS tool, update customers every 24 hours and ensure resolution within 96 hours.
• Monitor shipments up to proof of delivery, communicate any issues by phone and follow‑up by email.
• Ensure compliance with CDZ regulations, Known Shipper declarations, IAA database checks and Regulated Agent Consignment Security Certificate forms.

Required profile

• Strong customer focus with the ability to build long‑term relationships.
• Proactive communicator who can coordinate with overseas teams and internal departments.
• Detail‑oriented with a commitment to accurate documentation and compliance.
• Ability to take ownership of the full export job file, including commercial monitoring.

Required skills

• Experience using the DCT transport order system.
• Familiarity with the IAA database for shipper verification.
• Ability to operate the GCCS complaint and incident management tool.
• Knowledge of export/import documentation and CDZ regulatory requirements.
