Audit Director - SME's / Privately-owned business (Ireland)

About the role

Join a leading professional services firm in Ireland as an Audit Director within the Privately‑Owned Business team. You will work closely with partners, senior managers and managers on a portfolio of audit clients ranging from €10m to €250m across technology, retail, distribution, professional services and engineering sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and develop client relationships while ensuring audit quality and consistency across the portfolio.
• Manage departmental resources to optimise utilisation, meet billing, net fee income and cash‑collection targets.
• Support staff development through mentoring, training and ongoing guidance.
• Contribute to firm growth initiatives and strategic projects in collaboration with Financial Advisory and Tax teams.

Required profile

• Qualified Accountant with a minimum of 5 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in a medium or large practice.
• Proven ability to build and sustain client relationships and to coach senior team members.
• Strong business acumen, strategic thinking and excellent organisational skills.
• Effective communication, both written and oral, and the capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Advisory project experience in developing strategic business plans.
• Technical accounting for acquisitions, structural changes and accounting framework transitions.
• Collaboration on projects with Financial Advisory and Tax teams.
