Band 5 Community Nurse – Child & Adolescent Mental Health

About the role

The NHS Highland Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is seeking a Band 5 Community Nurse to join its Intensive CAMHS (I‑CAMHS) team at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. You will provide intensive outreach and support to young people and families requiring specialist T4 level mental health care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct supportive contact with children, young people and families experiencing severe and complex mental health problems.
• Work across The Phoenix Centre, community settings and Raigmore Hospital to implement agreed interventions.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary CAMHS team to ensure a comprehensive therapeutic service.
• Provide flexible support, including occasional out‑of‑hours work, to meet changing service needs.
• Maintain therapeutic relationships that promote engagement and positive outcomes.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a genuine interest in child and adolescent mental health.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to work flexibly and adapt to service demands.
• Valid driving licence.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and care planning for mental health presentations.
• Knowledge of CAMHS pathways and T4 level interventions.
• Proficiency in documentation and record‑keeping within NHS systems.
