Business Lines Underwriter – New Business (Dublin/Wexford)

About the role

Zurich Insurance Europe AG is seeking a Business Lines Underwriter for its New Business team. The role involves underwriting new commercial insurance submissions, working closely with broker partners and internal stakeholders to meet the company’s risk appetite and financial targets.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite and analyse new business submissions in line with Zurich’s underwriting guidelines, risk appetite and delegated authority.
• Negotiate terms and conditions with broker partners while nurturing long‑term relationships.
• Prioritise and manage the new business pipeline, ensuring service level agreements are met.
• Collaborate with Sales, Distribution, Risk Engineering and other functions to generate and secure new opportunities.
• Provide technical advice to brokers and customers, supporting account development and retention.
• Maintain underwriting discipline by applying technical standards, controls and procedures.
• Contribute ideas for new or enhanced insurance propositions based on market insights.
• Ensure compliance with Central Bank standards and Zurich’s internal policies.
• Maintain accurate underwriting records and support regulatory reporting.
• Participate in ad‑hoc projects and, when required, manage renewal business.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of commercial insurance underwriting experience.
• Professional qualifications such as CIP, MDI or ACII (or working towards them).
• Strong technical knowledge of commercial insurance products and Zurich policy wordings.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proven ability to build relationships with brokers and internal partners.
• Effective communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
