About the role
The Category Manager will oversee and develop product categories across Chadwicks Group and MacNaughton Blair, supporting growth and the central distribution strategy. This role involves regular travel across the island of Ireland to engage with branches and suppliers.
Key responsibilities
- Support growth of existing categories and develop new ones such as Tools and Power‑Tools.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to secure best terms and quality.
- Monitor and manage stock levels across multiple locations, optimizing inventory.
- Deliver promotional campaigns to drive footfall and support online and in‑branch sales.
- Contribute to the evolution of the central distribution model.
- Collaborate with sales, operations, logistics, marketing, suppliers and customers in ROI and NI.
- Support the online trade platform, ensuring a strong digital offering.
- Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity and new product developments.
- Identify process improvements to reduce costs and enhance customer experience.
Required profile
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in buying, procurement or category management.
- Experience preferably within building materials, retail or a related sector.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions and geographies.
- Willingness to travel regularly across the island of Ireland.
