Clinical Nurse Manager – Haematology Day Unit

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Manager 1 will support senior nursing leadership on the Colman K Byrne Haematology Day Unit, a key component of the OECI‑accredited Cancer Centre at Beaumont Hospital. The role focuses on the safe delivery of systemic anti‑cancer therapies (SACT) and the efficient management of patient flow within the day ward.

Key responsibilities

• Educate patients on their treatment plans and obtain informed consent.
• Order, prepare, and administer SACT in a timely, economical, and safe manner.
• Assess patients before treatment, monitor for adverse effects, and ensure proper disposal of hazardous agents.
• Manage utilisation of treatment chairs, coordinate admissions and discharges, and liaise with bed managers for overnight stays.
• Allocate work to nursing staff, student nurses, and health‑care assistants, ensuring workload is matched to patient needs.
• Monitor staffing levels, arrange meal breaks, and advise senior management when staffing adjustments are required.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse with current registration in Ireland.
• Significant experience in haematology or oncology nursing, including SACT administration.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
