Clinical Nurse Manager – Medically Supervised Injecting Facility

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM1) will lead the day‑to‑day operation of a newly established Medically Supervised Injecting Facility in Dublin 8. This senior nursing role combines clinical care with operational leadership in a harm‑reduction setting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the daily running of the facility, ensuring compliance with service standards, policies and the organisation’s ethos.
• Provide supervision, line management and support to a multidisciplinary team including a Lead Project Worker, registered psychiatric and general nurses, and project workers.
• Manage staffing rotas, allocate resources appropriately and maintain a visible leadership presence on the floor.
• Coordinate, assess, plan and evaluate care for service users, delivering direct clinical care when required.
• Uphold clinical standards, overdose management protocols and professional ethics, confidentiality and legislation.
• Promote a safe environment, ensuring infection control, controlled‑drug regulations and health‑and‑safety compliance.
• Lead team development, performance management, staff wellbeing initiatives and a positive culture.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, building partnerships and ensuring the service‑user voice is central to delivery.
• Support governance, audits, reporting, data maintenance and budgetary control.

Required profile

• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and hold a recognised nursing qualification.
• Minimum three years post‑registration experience, including at least two years in a low‑threshold or similar environment.
• At least two years of experience managing and leading nursing or multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of substance‑misuse, mental health and trauma‑informed care.
• Excellent leadership, communication and decision‑making abilities.
• Proven capability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong IT proficiency, particularly in Excel and customer‑relationship‑management systems.
