About the role
The National Transport Authority is seeking a Communications Officer to support its public affairs and media activities. The role will involve managing event pipelines, producing press material, and liaising with media and stakeholders to promote transport projects.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the NTA events pipeline and communications grid.
- Provide support to internal communications functions.
- Draft press releases, website copy and respond to media enquiries.
- Assist with the management of social media accounts.
- Implement media and public affairs action plans for specific projects.
- Organise media events such as press conferences, briefings and photo‑ops.
- Produce briefing documents on public transport matters for politicians, stakeholders and the public.
- Support public affairs functions including Freedom of Information, parliamentary questions and stakeholder engagement.
- Contribute to the delivery of major transport projects (BusConnects, MetroLink, DART Expansion) from a public affairs perspective.
- Undertake other related tasks as required.
Required profile
- Minimum NFQ Level 4 qualification or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in communications, public affairs or customer service.
- Proven report‑writing and communication abilities, including press releases and web content.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to present data clearly.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
