Community Engineer (multiple roles & seniority levels)

About the role

We are looking for a Community Engineer to shape and scale global open‑source communities that power widely used Linux‑based technologies. The role is fully remote and will serve as a bridge between developers, contributors, and internal engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, coordinate and scale community programs that increase engagement across open‑source ecosystems.
• Act as liaison between contributors and product, engineering, and developer‑relations teams to ensure alignment.
• Improve contribution workflows, reduce friction and enable successful delivery of technical projects.
• Create high‑quality written content such as blog posts, updates and documentation.
• Engage with communities on forums, chat, social channels and at events.
• Represent the organization at conferences, meet‑ups and industry events.
• Identify and drive improvements to community tooling, processes and contributor experience.

Required profile

• Strong passion for open‑source software, Linux ecosystems and collaborative development.
• Demonstrated public track record of community engagement (e.g., GitHub contributions, talks, blog posts).
• Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Strong organizational and program‑management abilities.

Required skills

• Version control systems (Git).
• CI/CD pipelines.
• Packaging and DevOps tools.
• Container technologies.
• Linux‑based systems, preferably Ubuntu.
