Conference & Banqueting Porter

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Conference & Banqueting Porter to join our new hotel opening in Westport, County Mayo. The role supports the delivery of meetings, conferences, weddings and other events by preparing and maintaining function rooms to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and dismantle tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, podiums, screens and audiovisual equipment according to function sheets.
• Service meeting rooms throughout events, ensuring refreshments, layouts and equipment meet organiser requirements.
• Act as the operational point of contact for organisers, responding promptly to requests.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of all event spaces before guest arrival.
• Perform timely room turnarounds between functions.
• Transport, store and safely handle furniture, linen, equipment and event materials.
• Support replenishment of bar stock, supplies and guest amenities.
• Report maintenance issues, equipment defects and health‑and‑safety concerns to the relevant departments.

Required profile

• Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy items safely.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of presentation.
• Excellent teamwork and communication with conference, kitchen, bar, housekeeping and front‑office teams.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends during events.

Required skills

• Experience with setting up and operating audiovisual equipment.
