Consultant Anaesthesiologist – Dublin & South East

About the role

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a Consultant Anaesthesiologist to join its Dublin and South East region. This permanent, whole‑time position splits across two hospitals, providing a diverse clinical environment and the opportunity to work with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality anaesthetic care for surgical and procedural patients at St Columcille's Hospital (27 hrs/week) and St Vincent's University Hospital (10 hrs/week).
• Lead and supervise junior anaesthetic staff, registrars and trainees.
• Participate in on‑call rotas and emergency airway management.
• Contribute to departmental audit, research and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with HSE clinical governance and safety standards.

Required profile

• Medical degree and full registration with the Irish Medical Council.
• Specialist training and certification in Anaesthesiology.
• Eligibility for consultant appointment within the HSE.
• Ability to work both HSE and non‑HSE contracts.
