About the role

The NHS Tayside Stroke Service at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee is seeking up to five part‑time Consultants in Stroke Medicine. The role is based in the Hyper‑Acute Stroke Unit and will support the development of a 24/7 thrombectomy service and the broader stroke pathway.

Key responsibilities

  • Participate in the evening on‑call rota for the stroke service and contribute to the Acute Medical Unit rota.
  • Deliver clinical care within the Hyper‑Acute Stroke Unit, including assessment, treatment and coordination of thrombectomy pathways.
  • Engage in postgraduate training, education of junior doctors and allied health professionals.
  • Collaborate with Interventional Radiology colleagues to expand the thrombectomy service.
  • Contribute to research, quality‑improvement projects and the redesign of adult rehabilitation pathways across the health and social care system.

Required profile

  • MRCP qualification.
  • Registration on the GMC Specialist Register in Stroke Medicine and General Medicine, or within six months of achieving CCT, or possession of CESR (CP) at interview.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Commitment to part‑time work (5 PAs, 20 hours per week).
