Director of Operations – Mechanical Services

About the role

The Operations Director will lead all operational activities for a Mechanical Services and Building Facilities Management company serving pharmaceutical, commercial and industrial clients. You will be responsible for delivering projects and service contracts safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards while supporting the company’s strategic growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably and on schedule.
• Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
• Monitor performance through KPIs, management reporting and financial metrics.
• Oversee mechanical installation projects from pre‑construction to completion, managing labour, plant, subcontractors and materials.
• Manage programme risks, resource allocation and resolve operational issues.
• Ensure service delivery meets contractual service levels and maximise contract retention.
• Deliver operational budgets, profitability targets and control labour, procurement and operational costs.
• Promote a strong health‑and‑safety culture and ensure compliance with legislation and company policies.
• Maintain strong relationships with key clients, attend meetings, resolve escalated issues and identify opportunities for additional work.
• Lead change‑management programmes and implement systems to improve operational performance.

Required profile

• Extensive experience managing operations within mechanical services, M&E, HVAC or building services contracting.
• Proven ability to lead multiple large‑scale projects simultaneously.
• Strong commercial awareness and financial/budgeting expertise.
• Excellent leadership, people‑management and negotiation skills.
• Full driving licence and ability to work on‑site in Cork.
