Engineering Manager

About the role

An experienced Engineering Manager is needed to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team at a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Sligo. Reporting to the Operations Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for engineering excellence, equipment reliability and continuous improvement in a highly regulated API environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop engineers, technicians and apprentices.
• Set departmental goals, schedules and priorities in partnership with the Operations Engineering Manager.
• Support development, maintenance and optimisation of manufacturing equipment.
• Ensure compliance with legal, corporate and regulatory standards.
• Drive continuous improvement to maximise plant performance, reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
• Lead internal, corporate and external audits.
• Maintain the highest health, safety and environmental standards.
• Manage engineering projects and coordinate external contractors.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Technical Operations and other cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• Level 7 (or higher) qualification in Engineering or a relevant scientific discipline.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
• At least 2 years in an engineering leadership or supervisory role.
• Experience in an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) manufacturing environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of glass‑lined vessels.
• Experience with reactors, pumps and heat exchangers.
• Understanding of ATEX requirements.
• Familiarity with solvent handling systems.
