Financial Accountant – Insurance – 12-month Fixed-Term Contract

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The role will focus on supporting the month‑end close, management and group reporting, and the preparation of statutory financial statements within a dynamic insurance environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with month‑end close, ensuring accounting tasks meet internal procedures, deadlines and control requirements.
• Validate, check and record all general ledger inputs accurately and on time.
• Prepare and post fee income, rebate income and investment‑related journals, reconciling with internal records and third‑party providers.
• Execute bank, inter‑company, new‑money, premium and claims reconciliations, resolving any differences promptly.
• Post policyholder reserves, unit‑linked liabilities and IAS‑related adjustments.
• Process branch invoices and support the preparation of semi‑annual and annual statutory financial statements.
• Prepare monthly management accounts for insurance reporting and maintain audit‑ready documentation.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, controls and reporting efficiency.

Required profile

• Newly qualified accountant with a strong interest in life insurance accounting.
• Experience with month‑end close and reporting processes is desirable.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Professional communication style when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookup formulas, data analysis techniques).
