Financial Accountant

About the role

Our client, a manufacturing company based in Longford, is looking for a Financial Accountant to join the Finance Department. The role will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong controls, and provide commercial insight to support both operational and strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit & loss and balance sheet reports.
• Complete balance‑sheet reconciliations and perform variance analysis on financial and operational performance.
• Manage accounts receivable, process cash receipts, and maintain debt control procedures.
• Monitor cash flow, handle banking relationships, and support leasing and financing applications.
• Assist in budgeting, CAPEX planning, and maintain fixed‑asset registers.
• Participate in inventory reviews, analyse material usage, and support stock variance analysis.
• Prepare VAT returns, coordinate R&D tax claims and IDA grant applications, and ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.

Required profile

• Qualified or part‑qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).
• Experience in financial accounting, month‑end reporting, budgeting and reconciliations.
• Knowledge of VAT, audit preparation and financial compliance.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to communicate across departments.
• Manufacturing or operational finance experience is advantageous.
