Financial Controller

About the role

We are a well‑established Irish manufacturing business seeking a Financial Controller to own and develop our finance function. This hands‑on leadership position will work closely with senior management to influence decisions and drive financial improvements during a period of growth.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and variance analysis.
• Oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Produce financial reporting and insightful commentary for senior leadership.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and performance monitoring activities.
• Manage cash flow and working capital.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE and Corporation Tax.
• Liaise with auditors and external advisors.
• Strengthen financial controls and governance.
• Drive improvements in systems, processes and reporting (ERP exposure beneficial).
• Support strategic decision‑making through analysis and reporting.
• Lead, mentor and develop a finance team of five.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Post‑qualification experience preparing management accounts in a busy finance function.
• Strong technical knowledge and high attention to detail.
• Comfortable communicating financial information to non‑finance colleagues.
• Analytical mindset with a proactive, improvement‑focused attitude.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Business Central.
