Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function for a client in the shipping and logistics sector, based onsite in Cork. You will own all day‑to‑day finance operations and provide accurate, insightful management accounts to support business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Full ownership of daily finance activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
• Lead and manage the month‑end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Prepare and deliver management accounts with clear analysis and actionable insights.
• Act as the primary contact for internal and external audits.
• Take responsibility for statutory financial statements and regulatory filings.
• Manage and oversee outsourced accounting service providers.
• Identify, design and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and control.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership role.
• Strong background in financial operations, reporting and compliance.
• Experience managing outsourced finance functions is desirable.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated leadership and team‑management capabilities.
