Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will report to the Board of Directors and lead the finance team across multiple sites. This senior position offers the chance to shape the finance function, provide strategic advice, and support future acquisitions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly Management Accounts on time.
• Oversee all finance activities, including cash flow, AR/AP, fixed assets, and taxes.
• Continuously improve finance processes, systems, and procedures.
• Lead, develop, and manage the finance team.
• Ensure timely and accurate statutory returns.
• Manage the annual audit and preparation of statutory audited accounts.
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Collaborate with senior management on integration projects, due diligence, and banking relationships.
• Oversee internal monthly payroll processing.
• Provide financial analysis to support business decisions.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant with a minimum of 8 years post‑qualification experience.
• Background in a professional services environment such as a law firm or accounting practice.
• Strong communication and influencing abilities.
• Proactive, self‑motivated, and able to thrive in a fast‑paced team.
• Proven track record of delivering high‑quality financial information.
• Excellent technical, IT, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and multi‑tasking capabilities.
• Ability to lead and develop a professional finance team.
