Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Mine Technical Service team at the Simberi open‑cut mine in Papua New Guinea. Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will support safe and sustainable mining operations through geotechnical analysis and hazard management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve Geotechnical Management Plans.
• Perform mine plan and schedule reviews, slope and wall design assessments, and excavation compliance inspections.
• Conduct geotechnical mapping, data collection, monitoring, stability analysis and QA/QC activities.
• Identify, assess, report and manage geotechnical hazards, implementing control measures.
• Communicate risks and operational issues to mine personnel and management.
• Lead investigations and projects to evaluate slope stability and establish design criteria.
• Provide technical geotechnical support to mining operations and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.

Required profile

• Reporting line to Senior Geotechnical Engineer.
