Job description

About the role

We are seeking a Graduate Ecologist to join our expanding environment and ecology team in Cork. This permanent position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of infrastructure and conservation projects, collaborating with ecologists, planners, engineers and scientists.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out field surveys for habitats, badgers, otters, bats, birds and invasive species.
  • Produce accurate technical reports and ecological assessments for roads, greenways, buildings and bridges.
  • Support biodiversity aspects of planning and infrastructure projects.
  • Contribute to current projects such as BusConnects Cork, Cork Area Commuter Rail Phase Two, West Cork Greenway, and others.
  • Record and manage data efficiently using appropriate IT tools.

Required profile

  • Degree (Level 8) in ecology or a related biological/environmental science discipline.
  • Strong field skills and a keen interest in Irish wildlife.
  • Excellent report‑writing ability and high motivation.
  • Demonstrated experience with ecological field surveys (e.g., habitat classification, species surveys).
  • Client‑focused attitude, good interpersonal skills and a team‑oriented approach.
  • Physically fit and able to work in remote locations and all weather conditions.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Membership of CIEEM or working towards it.

  • GIS applications – ArcGIS and QGIS.
  • Technical report writing.
  • Efficient data recording and management.
