Group Financial Controller

About the role

The Group Financial Controller will head the Group’s financial reporting, consolidation and audit functions while supporting strategic initiatives such as M&A and integration. This senior leadership position reports to the Group Finance Director and works closely with the Executive Team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and delivery of the Group Annual Report and interim financial statements in compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
• Manage Group audit relationships and coordinate audits across all subsidiaries to agreed timelines.
• Oversee subsidiary statutory accounts, ensuring consistent accounting policies, disclosures and governance.
• Own the month‑end close and consolidation process, delivering timely and insightful management reporting.
• Maintain strong balance‑sheet controls, including reconciliations and robust control frameworks.
• Develop and maintain the Group consolidation system (SAP BPC or similar) ensuring data integrity.
• Design and implement a Group‑wide internal control environment aligned to best‑practice PLC standards.
• Lead process simplification, standardisation and automation initiatives.
• Support financial due diligence, acquisition accounting, purchase price allocation and integration of new businesses.
• Mentor and develop a high‑performing reporting team of approximately four direct reports.

Required profile

• Qualified ACA or ACCA with around 5+ years post‑qualification experience, preferably with a Big 4 background.
• Significant experience in a Group/PLC environment with strong technical accounting and IFRS expertise.
• Proven audit management and statutory reporting experience.
• Strong leadership and people‑development capabilities.
