Head of People & Culture (12‑month maternity cover)

About the role
Elgin Energy is seeking a Head of People & Culture to lead its people strategy on a 12‑month maternity cover contract. Reporting to the People and Culture Director, you will drive a high‑performance, inclusive culture and ensure HR initiatives align with business objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Support the People and Culture Director in delivering the overall people strategy.
- Design and execute core HR initiatives such as workforce planning, employee experience, performance management, and succession planning.
- Act as a strategic partner to the senior leadership team, advising on organisational design, capability building, and change management.
- Manage compensation and benefits frameworks, ensuring competitiveness and compliance.
- Provide expert guidance on employee relations, grievances, disputes, and disciplinary actions.
- Lead culture programmes that embed inclusion, equity, and psychological safety.
- Oversee change‑management communications and workforce transition support during restructures or growth phases.
- Mentor and develop the HR team, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Operations to integrate people strategies across the organisation.
- Analyse people metrics and produce data‑driven reports for senior decision‑making.
Required profile
- Proven senior HR leadership experience, preferably in a fast‑growing or energy‑focused organisation.
- Strong track record of developing and executing people strategies that support business growth.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.
- Deep knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high‑performing HR teams.
- Experience managing compensation, benefits, and employee relations matters.
