Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager – Manufacturing

About the role

The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of HSE controls across a busy manufacturing plant. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will ensure compliance, drive risk reduction and support a safe, sustainable operating environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the HSE Management System, ensuring all controls are up‑to‑date.
• Lead accident/incident investigations, provide prompt reporting and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Production, Planning, Sales and Finance to embed HSE procedures throughout the site.
• Prepare and deliver weekly, monthly and annual HSE performance reports.
• Conduct risk assessments and design Safe Systems of Work for all operational activities.
• Manage capital and special projects related to health, safety and environment, including budgeting and contractor oversight.
• Coordinate internal and external HSE audits to successful completion.
• Organise and deliver HSE training for employees as required.
• Oversee procurement of PPE and other HSE supplies.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent qualification with a formal HSE certification.
• Proven experience leading HSE functions on a manufacturing site.
• Strong analytical and communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to manage budgets, projects and external contractors.
