Health & Safety Lead – Asset Operations

About the role

The Health & Safety Lead – Asset Operations is responsible for leading health and safety across the operational phase of wind, solar and BESS assets, as well as for office‑based staff. Reporting to the Head of QHSE, the role ensures safe execution of high‑risk activities such as lifting operations and high‑voltage electrical work while complying with Irish and UK regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide health and safety leadership for all operational assets.
• Manage health and safety arrangements for direct employees, including office and hybrid workers.
• Support safe onboarding, induction, training and competence management.
• Ensure compliance with Irish and UK health and safety legislation and internal policies.
• Oversee contractor health and safety performance, including competence assessment and compliance monitoring.
• Assist Operations with asset lifecycle management, from construction handover to end‑of‑life and emergency response.
• Promote employee wellbeing initiatives such as ergonomics and mental health support.
• Lead or support investigations of incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions.
• Contribute to the implementation of electrical safety rules alongside the Authorising Engineer.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading health and safety in renewable energy asset operations.
• Strong knowledge of Irish and UK health and safety legislation.
• Ability to manage contractor safety performance and conduct safety investigations.
• Experience with high‑risk work such as lifting operations and high‑voltage electrical tasks.
