Healthcare Assistant (HCA) – Macroom

About the role

We are seeking dedicated Healthcare Assistants to join our team at a leading nursing home in Macroom. You will work alongside experienced nursing staff in a supportive, multicultural environment, providing high‑quality, person‑centred care to our residents.

Key responsibilities

• Support nursing staff in delivering holistic care to residents.
• Maintain residents' hygiene and personal care with dignity.
• Assist with eating, drinking and nutrition requirements.
• Help residents mobilise safely using appropriate aids.
• Escort or transfer residents as directed by nursing staff.
• Provide assistance in end‑of‑life care when required.
• Carry out any additional duties assigned by nurses or management.

Required profile

• QQI Level 5 in Healthcare or a relevant qualification (or working towards it).
• Previous experience in a care setting is desirable but not essential.
• Excellent communication skills and a warm, caring attitude.
• Good level of English language proficiency.
• Flexibility to work varied shift patterns, including days, nights and weekends.
