Indirect Tax Compliance Specialist

About the role

Primark is looking for an Indirect Tax Compliance Specialist to lead the coordination, review and submission of indirect tax and statistical returns across multiple international markets. You will ensure accuracy, compliance and timely processing while supporting the finance team’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the coordination, review and submission of indirect tax and statistical returns for multiple jurisdictions.
• Manage indirect tax payments, refunds and balance‑sheet reconciliations, meeting all deadlines.
• Partner with external advisors and internal stakeholders to fulfil compliance obligations and deliver tax reporting activities.
• Support indirect tax audits and contribute to advisory and planning projects, including new market and entity roll‑outs.
• Identify process improvements, drive efficiencies and enhance systems and controls for compliance.
• Provide leadership to the Indirect Tax Compliance team, managing two Finance Associates, coaching colleagues and fostering a high‑performing environment.

Required profile

• Professional accounting or tax qualification (CTA, ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent preferred).
• Proven experience preparing and reviewing VAT/sales tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong knowledge of indirect tax compliance, with exposure to international markets; US indirect tax experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
