Intern – Operational Excellence

About the role

The Intern – Operational Excellence will support Lilly's new manufacturing site in Limerick, helping to drive continuous improvement across safety, quality, supply reliability and productivity. Working within the OPEX team, you will apply Lean principles and digital tools to enhance processes and support the site’s digital transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation and maintenance of the Daily Management System using digital Lean tools.
• Assist with process‑mapping exercises, identify improvement opportunities and help implement countermeasures.
• Contribute to cross‑functional metric integration and flow across the site.
• Participate in systems governance activities such as health checks, maturity assessments and performance reviews.
• Partner with teams to embed a culture of continuous improvement and support OpEx initiatives.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a BSc program in engineering, science, business, operations/supply chain, information technology or a related field.
• Interest in pharmaceutical manufacturing and operational excellence.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work collaboratively across functions.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Lean methodology and continuous‑improvement tools.
• Experience with digital transformation tools and data‑driven metrics.
• Process‑mapping and documentation skills.
