Lead DevOps Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to own and evolve a massive, high‑traffic scraping platform that processes billions of requests worldwide. Based in Ireland and operating in a remote‑first environment, you will combine deep technical expertise with strategic leadership to ensure the platform remains reliable, secure, and cost‑efficient at extreme scale.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the end‑to‑end platform roadmap, identifying critical improvements and long‑term architectural priorities.
• Consolidate multiple infrastructure stacks into a unified, scalable platform with minimal operational disruption.
• Design, build, and optimise cloud infrastructure for performance, scalability, security and cost efficiency.
• Implement robust monitoring, alerting, logging and disaster‑recovery strategies.
• Own infrastructure cost optimisation, especially proxy and compute expenses, while maintaining performance.
• Strengthen security posture by proactively addressing vulnerabilities and emerging threats.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on system design, support AI‑related initiatives and improve development workflows.
• Mentor engineers and raise platform‑engineering maturity through tooling, processes and best practices.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform or Infrastructure Engineering at scale.
• Hands‑on expertise with Kubernetes and large‑scale distributed systems.
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipeline construction.
• Strong knowledge of cloud/hosting providers such as DigitalOcean or Hetzner.
• Familiarity with databases like PostgreSQL, Redis, ClickHouse or MongoDB (a plus).
• Deep experience with monitoring and observability tools (Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, ELK stack).
