Lecturer – Ethnomusicology, Professional Development & Research Practice

About the role
BIMM University is seeking a part‑time Lecturer to deliver high‑quality teaching across Ethnomusicology, Professional Development and Research Practice modules. The role combines classroom instruction, curriculum development and pastoral support, with a strong emphasis on student success and wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, plan and deliver Ethnomusicology, Professional Development and Research Practices modules.
- Design and develop resources, schemes of work and assessments.
- Provide high‑quality teaching and learning both in‑person and online.
- Support students academically and pastorally as an Academic Advisor.
- Use data and student feedback to enhance teaching and improve outcomes.
- Mark and moderate assessments and contribute to quality assurance processes.
- Participate in student recruitment activities such as auditions, interviews and open days.
- Engage in professional development, scholarly activity and potential research.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure an inclusive student experience.
- Contribute to the development of course content and university‑wide initiatives.
Required profile
- Experience in the music industry.
- A relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent industry experience.
- A teaching qualification or willingness to achieve a Fellowship of Advance HE within two years.
- Passion for education and innovative teaching practices.
- Strong understanding of academic quality, standards and inclusive learning environments.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with students and colleagues.
- Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in education.
