Lecturer in Genetics and Biomedical Sciences

About the role

The University of Galway invites applications for a Lecturer position in Genetics and Biomedical Sciences. The role is at Lecturer level and will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience. The appointee will join the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences, contributing to both teaching and research activities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across programmes such as Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, Genetics and Genomics.
• Supervise undergraduate projects and mentor students.
• Develop and lead independent research programmes capable of attracting national and international funding.
• Collaborate with existing research groups in areas like cell death signalling, cancer biology, chromosome biology and disease genomics.
• Participate in departmental and university service, including curriculum development and academic committees.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent in Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated ability to teach at university level and supervise student research.
• Strong publication record and potential to secure external research funding.
• Commitment to inclusive and high‑quality teaching and research.

Required skills
