Line Operator

About the role

Join Tata Steel's Lisburn works as a Line Operator, supporting the manufacturing of steel products in a fast‑moving, safety‑focused environment. This temporary six‑month position offers on‑the‑job training, the chance to earn industry‑recognised qualifications, and the potential to progress to a permanent role or become a Unit Trainer.

Key responsibilities

• Manufacture steel products according to strict specifications.
• Record, label, and store finished goods following company guidelines (once trained).
• Operate overhead cranes to move materials around the shop floor.
• Run heavy machinery such as slitting, decoiling, and shearing machines.
• Perform quality checks to ensure a high‑quality finish.
• Follow plant procedures, PPE requirements, and COSHH regulations at all times.
• Carry out basic maintenance and safe operation of equipment in the engineering shop.

Required profile

• Proactive, team‑oriented attitude with a genuine interest in steel production.
• Ability to work the specified shift patterns and overtime.
• Driving licence and access to a personal vehicle.
• Willingness to undergo a medical assessment, including drug and alcohol testing.

What we offer

• Hourly rate £13.26, rising to £14.40 after training.
• Overtime paid at time‑and‑a‑half.
• 35.15‑hour weekly schedule with a two‑week rotating shift pattern.
