Operations Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead the safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery of all activities at Rosslare Port. Reporting to senior leadership, you will be responsible for overseeing vessel loading and discharge, container handling, workforce management and customer service in a fast‑paced 24/7 environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day port operations, ensuring vessels are loaded and discharged within agreed turnaround times.
• Oversee container handling from ship to quay and onward transport, including lashing and unlashing in line with stowage plans.
• Develop and implement operational plans to meet productivity and service‑level targets, securing necessary labour, equipment and resources.
• Promote a safety‑first culture, conduct risk assessments, safety audits and ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, port regulations and ISO standards.
• Lead, motivate and develop supervisors, team leaders and operational staff, handling recruitment, training and performance management.
• Act as primary contact for shipping lines, freight operators, customers and port authorities, maintaining service agreements and resolving issues promptly.
• Manage operational budgets, monitor labour productivity and equipment utilisation, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Operations Manager in a port, maritime or logistics environment.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing high‑performing teams.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
• Excellent stakeholder management abilities, working with shipping lines, customers and regulatory bodies.
