Packaging Engineer II

About the role

Medtronic’s Packaging & Labelling Engineering Department is seeking a Packaging Engineer II to join its R&D team. You will work on the development of innovative medical device packaging, from concept through commercialisation, supporting the company’s mission to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with New Product Development (NPD) functions to define and deliver packaging requirements.
• Develop packaging components and assemblies for medical devices.
• Source, test, and approve packaging materials.
• Support verification, validation, and implementation of package systems.
• Conduct technical root‑cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare technical documentation (design specs, input requirements, validation reports) in line with quality system standards.
• Apply FDA and ISO packaging/labeling requirements to ensure robust validation and qualification.
• Lead cross‑functional projects using project‑management techniques to achieve best‑in‑class outcomes.

Required profile

• Level 8 degree in Engineering, Science or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant packaging engineering experience (or an advanced degree with no experience).
• Proactive team player capable of working across functions.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (3D design) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Minitab for statistical analysis.
• Knowledge of FDA and ISO packaging/labeling regulations.
• Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM) practices.
• Project management and root‑cause analysis techniques.
