Preschool Educator – Intellectual Disability Service (Permanent)

About the role

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a dedicated Preschool Educator to join its Intellectual Disability Service in the Sligo/Leitrim area. The role supports children with intellectual disabilities in a specialised preschool environment, contributing to the HSE’s community‑living model and de‑congregation policy.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver age‑appropriate, inclusive curriculum for children with additional needs.
• Monitor and record each child’s development, adapting activities to individual goals.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
• Maintain a safe, stimulating classroom environment in line with health and safety standards.
• Participate in regular training and professional development related to disability education.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children with additional needs.
• Previous work in a preschool or early‑years setting.
• Commitment to the values of community integration and person‑centred care.

Required skills

• Knowledge of early childhood development principles.
• Ability to implement individualized education plans.
• Effective communication with children, families and multidisciplinary teams.
