Process Safety Design Engineer

About the role

Join a leading energy organisation as a Process Safety Design Engineer, working on a hybrid basis from either Cork or Dublin. You will be responsible for the detailed design of process and functional safety elements across the gas transmission and distribution network.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, oversee and audit design activities to ensure compliance with IEC 61511.
• Identify hazardous design elements, assess risk severity and likelihood, and design Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) with maintenance recommendations for Operations.
• Collaborate with internal and external design teams to deliver projects in line with IEC 61511 and IEC 61508.
• Produce functional process designs and specify pressure equipment.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemical/Process or Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering.
• Minimum seven years of process engineering experience, preferably in gas, pharma or utilities.
• Strong knowledge of IEC 61511 application in process industries or utilities.
• Commitment to obtain or existing TUV Rheinland Functional Safety certification.
