About the role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of bespoke food‑processing solutions for our client. The role bridges sales, design and manufacturing, overseeing projects from initial concept through to on‑site commissioning and handover.
Key responsibilities
- Own assigned projects from award to customer sign‑off, maintaining full documentation.
- Develop detailed project plans, milestones, resource forecasts and risk registers.
- Monitor progress, identify and resolve issues, delays or cost overruns.
- Manage project budgets to meet profitability targets.
- Act as primary customer contact, ensuring expectations are met and satisfaction is high.
- Produce block layout drawings and specify mechanical/electrical components such as conveyors, belts, motors, pneumatics and control systems for food‑production environments.
- Brief the Design Engineering team to create SolidWorks models and manufacturing drawing packs.
- Ensure designs comply with legislation, hygiene standards and customer specifications.
- Provide technical support to sales, design, manufacturing and service functions.
- Continuously seek design improvements to enhance manufacturability, reduce cost and boost performance.
Required profile
- Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior Engineer in capital equipment, industrial automation or food‑processing machinery.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the full project lifecycle from concept to commissioning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with confidence presenting at all levels.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to handle multiple projects under pressure.
- Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and customer relationships.
Required skills
- SolidWorks (CAD)
- MS Project or equivalent planning software
- Specification of mechanical components: conveyor systems, belts, motors, pneumatics, control systems
- Knowledge of food‑processing industry standards and hygiene regulations
