Project Manager – Industrial Automation

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of bespoke industrial automation solutions. You will act as the primary liaison between sales, design, manufacturing and the customer, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Own projects from award through to customer sign‑off and closure.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, milestones, resource forecasts and risk registers.
• Monitor progress, identify issues early and implement corrective actions.
• Manage project budgets to meet profitability targets.
• Maintain complete project documentation and sign‑off at all gates.
• Serve as the main customer contact, managing expectations and satisfaction.
• Produce block layout drawings and specify mechanical/electrical components (conveying systems, belts, motors, pneumatics, control systems).
• Brief the Design Engineering team to create SolidWorks models and drawing packs.
• Provide technical support to Sales, Design, Manufacturing and Service functions.
• Continuously seek design improvements to reduce cost and enhance performance.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior Engineer in capital equipment, industrial automation or a similar sector.
• Demonstrated ability to manage full project lifecycles from concept to on‑site commissioning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with confidence presenting at all levels.
• Strong organisational abilities to handle multiple projects under pressure.
• Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and customer relationships.
• Hands‑on experience specifying mechanical components such as conveyors, motors, pneumatics and structural fabrications.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) and project planning software (MS Project or equivalent).
