Project Statistician – Manufacturing

About the role

Lilly is looking for a Project Statistician to support the manufacturing of current and new pharmaceutical products. The role will apply statistical thinking and appropriate methodologies to drive process improvements, establish control strategies, and define regulatory specifications for active ingredients and final drug products.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyze statistically based experiments, sampling plans, and regression models.
• Develop and maintain control strategies for manufacturing processes and analytical assays.
• Evaluate process capability, control, and determine appropriate regulatory specifications.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional manufacturing teams to provide statistical expertise and data‑driven recommendations.
• Communicate statistical concepts and results through meetings, presentations, and internal reports.
• Serve as statistical lead on multi‑functional project teams, guiding problem‑solving and decision‑making.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Statistics.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with peers, customers, and management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Experience in drug development or pharmaceutical manufacturing is preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple activities, prioritize tasks, and work in ambiguous environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with statistical software such as JMP, SAS, or R.
• Knowledge of experimental design, regression, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, mixed models, and sampling techniques.
• Familiarity with CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls) processes is highly preferred.
